Spider-Man: No way Home- What did the trailer reveal?
Spider-Man: No Way Home has to be one of the most anticipated comic-book movies so far. Though there are less than two months before its release, Marvel and Sony are still hard-pressed on maintaining the secrecy for the movie. After a lot of speculations and requests from the fans, the first trailer was released to record-breaking numbers. Now fans are eagerly waiting for a second one.
So, what have we learned from the first trailer so far? Let's have a recap.
The trailer opens and takes us where the Spider-Man: Far From Home Ended. With his identity revealed to the public by Mysterio at the end of Far From Home. We quickly learn the repercussions that Peter had to face. Being swarmed by citizens and reporters alike, Peter Parker soon finds himself to be the "Public Enemy Number One" thanks to the efforts of the editor of Daily Bugle, J. Jonah Jameson.
We also see Peter in the interrogation room with a stack of files being slammed in front of him, while Peter looks up to whoever the person is. Fans have immediately speculated the hand slamming the files to be that of Matt Murdock aka Daredevil who has been rumoured to be in the movie. So, it makes sense if Matt Murdock acts as the legal counsel for Peter following all the troubles he has been facing after being framed by Mysterio. However, the IMAX trailer shows this theory to be wrong since it provides a clear look at the scene thanks to the large aspect ratio. It turns out that it was the same agent who we see just in the previous scene. But fans do not need to be disheartened since multiple sources have reported that Matt Murdock will indeed be a part of the movie though he wasn't seen in the trailer.
Charlie Cox who had portrayed the Devil of Hell's Kitchen in the Netflix series for three seasons was heavily speculated to be in this movie. Well, it is another mystery that the time will unfold.
To fix this mess and world to forget his secret identity, Peter Parker seeks the aid of none other than Benedict Cumberbatch's Dr Strange. In this scene, we are presented with brilliant banter between two fan-favourite characters in the MCU. We also see Wong for a brief moment before he leaves through a sling ring portal while warning Strange not to cast the spell that Peter is asking for. To this, we see Dr Strange give out a mischievous wink.
As Dr Strange sets down to cast the spell, we see Peter starting to get cold feet. He asks Strange if there is any way to prevent Aunt May, MJ and Ned from forgetting his identity.
These interruptions cause Strange to lose control and in a voiceover, we hear Strange say that they have messed with the Space-Time which usually indicates bad things. Consequently, in a few other moments, we see all the hell to break loose.
Here, are the most important Easter Eggs in case you have missed them:
‘Hello Peter’ Says it All
For a brief moment, we see Alfred Molina reprise his role as Doc Ock from Sam Raimi's Spiderman 2. An entire generation of MCU fans had grown up with Sam Raimi's Spiderman trilogy and to see Alfred Molina reprise his role was a nice surprise. Also, it further fueled the speculations of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield reprising their roles as Spider-Men.
In a recent photo released by Marvel, we also see Tom Holland's Spider-Man being chased by Alfred Molina's Doc Ock. This has disheartened several fans as they speculated that Doctor Otto Octavius was talking to Peter he knew that is Tobey Maguire's character.
Green Goblin Returns:
In an iconic moment in the trailer, we saw a pumpkin-shaped green and orange explosive rolling on the ground while there was a faint crackle in the background. This had most of the Spidey fans speculating whether William Dafoe will reprise his iconic character as Green Goblin aka Norman Osborn from the Raimi trilogy. While there has not been any visual confirmation as of yet, it still seems to be the case. Fans are thus left praying to once again see Dafoe's Green Goblin glide on the screen with an ominous cackle on his glider.
Sand and Electricity:
In a scene in the trailer, we see a jolt of electricity striking a large sand storm for brief seconds. This was subtle confirmation of the presence of Electro and Sandman's appearance in the movie. Plus, it has been speculated that Jaime Foxx and Thomas Haden Church will reprise their roles as Electro from The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and Sandman from Raimi's Spider-Man 3. But nothing has been confirmed yet though the appearance of their characters in the movie has been confirmed.
We also see a shadowy figure which many have speculated to be the Lizard, another notorious Spider-Man villain. Notably, Lizard was the main villain in the first The Amazing Spider-Man film. The IMAX trailer further concretes this theory by providing a clear view of the scene.
All of these villains reveal have hinted towards the formation of Sinister Six for the first time in cinematic history. The rogues' gallery of our friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man is vast and rich similar to Batman. And Sinister Six is the alliance of most notorious villains who are always thinking of ways of defeating Spidey. Though we have got no confirmation as of yet, let's see what the future has in store for us the Spider-Man fans.
Also, the Venom post-credit scene just blew the mind of all the Marvel fans. In the post-credit scene, we see Eddie Brock, the host of venom symbiote watching the news. The news is about Tom Holland's Spider-Man unmasked on the screen. Fans could also hear J. Jonah Jameson bantering in the background. However, Eddie didn't have any idea who Peter Parker is while Venom suddenly takes over and licks the screen exclaiming "This guy". Fans are now theorising that this is the result of Doctor Strange's spell that he cast during the No Way Home trailer that Eddie and Venom are brought to the MCU timeline.
Whatever Marvel and Sony have plotted for the fans, one thing is confirmed that Spider-Man: No Way Home will turn out to be a blockbuster and entertain the fans to a whole new level.
